Interesting.....

‘Bespoke’ Loses Its Value. Sniff.

Even through any such garment is way beyond my reach, I do think it is unfortunate that the ASA refused to uphold the meaning of the word. It just makes it harder and harder for the consumer to determine the true quality of what they are buying as well as undercutting the argument for purchasing quality rather than quantity.

All in all a move I don't think does anyone concerned any favors in the long run!

I might have found.....

WWW is quite right -- with all the Sex and the City hype, we forget (or at least I had!) about how TV shows from the 70's and the 60's had characters who's clothing style both reflected and influenced the fashion of their eras. Another stylish woman of an age....

Over at The Sartorialist....

Style Profile...Renata Molho, Milan

As you know if you read here often, this is not the first time that Scott has featured this wonderfully independent woman. But this time he has interviewed her on her approach to her own style. Do your self a favor and go over and read her take on how she decides what to wear. She has a very clear view of her own style and how she wants to express it - and knowing that is the foundation of true style.

Shopper Wide - $57.00

All Day Long Tote - $72.00

Carry All White Tote - $65.00

Hey it's summer, the farmer's markets are open, the art fairs are firing off practically one a weekend -- and wouldn't it be great to have a fresh new tote to carry all that fresh produce or the wonderful print from a soon to be discovered artist?

I love the clean design of these bags and the variety of patterns and colors their available in. And the price is so right who could resist!

You can buy online - or if you're lucky enough to have a store that carries them in your area, check them out in person first!

A shout out of thanks to Handbag Designer 101 for the heads up!

Okay, I would not DARE wear this...

But I'm a big sci-fi / anime / manga fan - so I just could not not post this link....

This from Spork Fashion

Abby Shot Clothiers Puts You into the Movies - Or Gets You Close

I had to surf over to Abby Shot to check out the goods - oh what fun!

My personal fav? The Deckard Trench of course!

So if you want to do a little android dreaming...go on over and check it out!

(And by the by - Ms. Alyse you rock that shrug - Go girl like I wish I could! ;-) )

Martin + Osa Classes Up Casual.....

I have to say I'd never heard of Martin + Osa until this post over at Omiru: Style for All....

Shopping Guide: Martin + Osa Summer 2008

Intrigued, I surfed on over to the site and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. While the most of the bottoms probably wouldn't really work for the 50+ gal, the tops have real possibilities...

Crop Linen Cotton Blazer - $128.00

Snappy Linen Cotton Jacket - $148.00

Cashmere and Silk T - on sale $70.40

Silk and Cotton Shawl Collar - $88.00

Square Neck Tunic - on sale $62.40

Admittedly this one is my fav of the favs - sleeves long enough to address that "arm" issue but the open square neck says summer fresh without looking too little girly.

Sadly, the sizes only go up to a size 14 (what's up with that?) - but I know there are 50+ ladies out there that can work that!

Go on over yourself and take a look!

This lady rocks....

End of story.

R.I.P Yves Saint Laurent...

There have been many, many wonderful tributes to the incomparable Yves Saint Laurent on his passing this week. But I think 55 Secret Street sums it up so wonderfully I feel there is little I can add...

Okay, were I to lose my mind and get married at my age - THIS is what I'd want to be wearing for the happy occasion!

(I've a question through -- what the hell goes on at resorts these days? When I think resort I think very casual, beach and lounger type wear - did I miss the memo that stated it would all be garden parties and cocktail hours?)

My favs....

I love the architecture of this outfit - the way the structure of the dress gives structure to the figure.

Yes, the pants are VERY voluminous - but they have a Japanese feel to them that I love.

I'm beginning to become something of a fan of the walking short, especially for the 50+ woman (I'm going to try a few pairs on to see if they actually work!). I particularly like the tailored look of this outfit - sleek and grown-up!

Yes, it has a bit of the flower girl look to it - but I love the color and the fuller skirt is more forgiving to most figures. And if you like this look, but don't think your wallet would be able to afford it...skip over to Isaac's Target line and check out these similar looks:

Ah! The Sublime White Shirt....

Or blouse if you prefer!

Every woman has a few staples in her closet that she swears by. One of mine is the white shirt. For me it is one of those pieces that never fails me. It can sharpen a simple suit or workplace pair of pants or skirt in a way that takes you confidently into any meeting and lifts a pair of jeans from casual to classy!

That's why I was delighted by this post from Ms. Angie over at YouLookFab:

Paris: the Anne Fontaine experience (A happy plus - pics of Ms. Angie herself shopping away - and, yes, she looks fab! ;-))

I've never heard of Anne Fontaine before, but of course I skipped right over to the web site. And I must admit, I was not disappointed.

Just a few of my favs:

Delish shirts:

And delightful accessories:

Of course none of this can be ordered online - but I was pleasantly surprised to find that she has several locations worldwide and - surprise! - one right here in Chicago!

Yes I know...

I've been meaning for weeks to do a post on what to wear to a wedding when you're 50+. I did one last year, but this year I just haven't seen much to be inspired about!

Well here comes Ms. Theresa over at Wardrobe 911 to the rescue with a great post on finding that perfect wedding outfit...

what to wear: evening wedding for hip 50+ women

I love how she tackles the bare arms issue head on! Part of the problem I've encountered as I've looked around for examples to post is that this year bear arms just seem to the the thing for the type of dresses one might want to wear to a summer wedding - and as you all know that's often not the friendliest look for the 50+ lady!
