I have to say....
That I've not paid much attention to The Gap since I left my 20s, early 30s. Then as I grew older and wider, the clothes at Gap not only seemed too young but too small as well!
Still, as I've been reading some of my favorite fashion/style blogger, at least a couple are singing the praises of the Gap.
Not to let it be said that I'm closed minded, I decided to take a look at the website. And yes, to my surprise, I found myself loving more than one piece:
I love sweaters and the two above just work for me! They're pieces you can pair easily with pants or a skirt. (I love the idea of the charcoal gray chunky one with a slim black pencil skirt!)
And as for pants...
They call these the "perfect trouser". I can't attest to that, but they certainly look close to, don't they? Pair them with the blazer...
And it's off to work!
With sizes 0-20, I might actually be able to fit into one of these pieces! I've decided to make a visit to my local Gap (there's one near my job) to see just what range of sizes they offer in the store. (Five gets ya ten sizes larger than 16 will be no where in sight! I'll let you know!)

Daily Outfit 6/26/09....
Like Ms. K, I don't pay near as much attention to my "play" time clothes (humm, play time - what's that?) as I do my work wardrobe. This outfit is one any woman can pull off for the summer resulting in looking fab and being comfortable at the same time! (Baby, it doesn't get better than that!)

Ah the issue of fit....
Continues to be an issue for all women (it's certainly one for me!).
Ms. Angie over at YouLookFab checks out a new site that aims to help women find the perfect fitting pant...
Fitlogics Answer to Pant Sizing
I tried them out, only to find out that they don't have the Plus Size sizing up and running yet! (Even through they do give you that choice for the question, what size pants do you normally buy!). They do clearly state that it is coming and the site gives you an opportunity to sign up to be notified when it is available.
As you know this is the holy grail of the retail world...trying to come up with some way to standardize sizing for women! Personally, I agree with Ms. Angie - it's a pretty much impossible task since women's bodies are so different from one another.
She's right - for now your best bet is to find pants that fit you best in your most troublesome area and have the rest altered to fit! (But I admire Fitlogic's attempt -so I've added a link for them at the left! ;- ) )

Pleats are Passe
Why point to this post here? Because ladies everything she's saying to the guys applies to us too! Pleats aren't just passe in my mind - their just downright unattractive! For EVERYONE! When you have a pounch it emphasizes it - when you don't they give you one!
AVOID them whenever possible!
I know, I know. If you've gained a few pounds over the years, the peated front can seem like a friend - trust me it's not. Flat fronts give you a cleaner slimmer line, which is what you want. You just have to be honest about sizing and buy a pair that fits well over your stomach and hips - get the waist altered if needed.
Trust me, you'll look great. And yes, you'll feel great too!

Summer is on the way....
And so is the dilemma of white pants!
Just for the record - now that my backside is what it is, I would ONLY wear a pair of white pants under pain of death (and believe me, the option of death would be seriously considered) - or if I wanted to show Star Wars on my butt!
That being said (or gotten out of my system, however you want to put it!), I realize that there are plenty of 50+ ladies out there that can still put on the snow-colored pants without immediate humiliation.
For those of you who can, but still have a few issues with how to do it to best effect, get yourself over to Wardrobe 911 for some handy tips on how to tame them:

Yes, I'm still here.....
I know I've been somewhat MIA recently - work has been absolutely crazy!
But I will be back posting regularly soon! In the meantime, get yourself over to Wardrobe 911 for the following great posts:

Ms. Teresa of late, has been posting pics of women she feels are great style examples. I heartily agree with her statement on the difficulties of finding pics of anyone other than celebs - that's one of my frustrations in blogging this site!

Get the scoop on the RIGHT way to handle those pesky pockets! (Personally I love pockets in pants, but they can impact the look of the silhouette - know what I'm saying?)

Great post on how to determine what type of shoulder frame you have and how to make the best of it. I posted a question for clarification to this post and Ms. Teresa's gracious answer was wonderfully clear - can't wait to try it to determine my shoulder type!
She has loads more - including her take on Forth and Towne. We aren't in agreement on that one, but hey that's life! So put some time aside to spend with Ms. T - your wardrobe will be the better for it!
And be at the ready -- I'll be posting a ton of stuff in the next few days!

More Winners from the Isaac Mizrahi for Target Collection....
Yeah I was in Target - again! - over the weekend (I know, I know, I should be skipping over to Sharebuilder to buy stock!) and saw some of the new pieces from their Mizrahi line.
I have to say I wasn't impressed by most of it, I think he's done better - but these two pieces definitely stood out:
Isaac Mizrahi for Target® 3-Button Pinstripe Jacket $39.99
Isaac Mizrahi for Target® Hepburn Wide-Leg Pants - Blue Bonnet $34.99
I especially like the pants - they really do have the Hepburn trouser look I'm such a sucker for, with the wide leg and cuff.
The fabric feels pretty good - a mid-weight poly / rayon blend that's machine washable (always a plus in my book!). They also come in different lenghts (short, regular and tall) which is as helpful as it is uncommon in women's pants be they high priced or low! Keep in mind, you might have to look twice if you pick these up in the store -- I don't remember if the different lenghts were clearly indicated on the tags. They are clearly defined on the Target website.
I'm not quite as pumped about the jacket -- it might be just a bit too short for some. But the tailoring is pretty good so it will work well with the pants as a business suit option - if it can work with your figure!
The only real down point is that the sizes only go up to a size 18. Bullah! : - p
I can say from my own experience with a pair of denim trousers from his Target line that I was able to wear the size 18 regular -- and I'm one of those women who, in store sizes, tends more towards the plus size than the regular misses!
All in all, a sharp look I think can work for women of a wide range of ages, if not sizes. Pare it with a smokin' bag and a dead on pair of shoes and you've got it made for not a lot of cash!
