As you know...
I mostly ignore what celebs wear.
But every once in a while I come across a great outfit that can work for the 50+!
The Budget Fashionista hooks us up with this one...who'd have thuk it would be a Paris Hilton outfit! :-O
Look for less: Paris Hilton
The dress is so classic - and the Emilia Day Dress is a wonderful budget friendly alternative! You name the occasion, this dress can work it...well maybe not a T-Ball game, but you get my drift!

Well it's not actually....
That warm today (after a beautiful day yesterday!). So black still feel quite appropriate.
However, in summer, sometimes not so much (if summer ever comes!).
Ms. Angie over at youlookfab doesn't give up on black once the summer sun comes out - and she is giving out tips on how to incorporate it into your summer wardrobe...

Over at...
55 Secret Street shows the completion for the inaugural gown....
The Michelle Obama Inaugural Gown Race
Follow her link to WWD to see a slide show of all the offerings. I think Ms. Nichelle did an excellent job of editing down to some of the best - through I thought the following ones for the inauguration itself are winners:

My fav for the Inaugural Ball?....

Yes, yes Isaac Mizrahi is one of my favorite designers true enough, but I just love the total package and how the style of each dress is perfectly suited for the female wearing it. And the colors are delish!
With the whole world watching, I'm just glad I'm not the one that has to make the final call on this one!

It Appears...
That Old Navy is determined to come out with a wonderful little black dress for the plus sized woman every season....
And it looks like they've done it again....

I was just thinking...
That May is almost upon us...which means that the main wedding season is not far behind!
Last year I did a post on dressing for the mother of the bride - and what to wear if YOU are the bride. And I was thinking I should do another one this year.
Well I probably still will...but the intrepid Ms. Theresa over at Wardrobe 911 is first out of the gate on THAT question...
what to wear: city hall wedding
Through the topic is a city hall wedding, I think this would be an elegant and lovely outfit for a 50+ bride!

STYLEnosh....
Poses an interesting question...
DO WE DRESS TOO CASUALLY?
I have to admit I have mixed feelings on this - seeing as I was one of those teenagers who purposely dressed as casually as possible as a mark of Independence!
In the Chi-town of my youth, it was customary to dress up to go downtown - I'm talkin' dresses and dress shoes, hats and gloves! (My fellow Chi-Towners of an age, you know where for I speak!) I'll never forget the day, as a teen, when I strutted out of the house to go downtown in jeans - my mother was horrified! "Are you going downtown like that?" she asked. "Yes I am.", I declared resolutely as out the door I went!
Needless to say the days of little girls in patient shoes is far over in the downtown shopping areas (well, except perhaps for the ladies on their way to the American Girl store for shopping and lunching!). And even the last time I attended a CSO concert, dress code was a varied interpretation!
I think we are simply a more casual society in general now - in many ways too rushed and focused on the next task at hand to give great stretches of thought to what we wear. And maybe it is in that that all style dilemna lay.
But that is a meditation for another day. Meanwhile, what do you think - are we dressing just too darn casually?

Now here's an interesting idea....
From Gayla Bentley...

Floral Neck Blouse - $450.00
Now personally I'm not much of a foo-foo around the neck of my shirts kind of gal - but I can certainly see how, with a wonderful floor length satin skirt this could be a winner for a formal occasion! And the fact that the floral piece and the sash can be removed means the blouse can be worn three different ways!
That's always a plus in my book - especially when that bad girl is costin' $450.00! Ouch!

When Chadwick's said....
They were going to mend their errant fashion ways and get some real style going on when it came to their offerings I guess they weren't foolin'...
From their Summer Collection

I'm not saying that every single offering is a winner - but a goodly number of them are! Go on over and check it out!
Oh and by the way...I love these shoes:

Once again not being able to wear them doesn't stop me lovin' 'em! ;-)
