Am I a Size 4? 8? 10? Tackling a Crazy Quilt of Sizing - NYTimes.com
Good article on how retailers are trying to tackle the bane of clothes shopping - what the heck is my "right" size? :-/

I heart Ann Taylor Loft....
For hearting teachers....
Loft Loves Teachers
Not only can teachers get 15% off their loft purchases but as you can see if you go to the site, there is a community component as well, along with style tips!
Teachers, in my humble opinion, are among the mostly unsung heroes of our society. They take on one of the most important jobs out there - teaching the young and old - and they get precious little respect or monetary reward for it. I know for a fact, having had the honor of having teachers as friends throughout my life, that they often come out of their own pockets to buy the things their students need to learn.
Kiddos to Ann Taylor Lofts for acknowledging the contributions of teachers - and cutting them a little shopping slack! ;-)

Can we be approaching...
The middle of spring already? (With snow falling in the Rocky's, it's hard to believe!)
Be that as it may, Ms. Angie over at youlookfab is giving a mid-season assessment of the Spring 2009 fashion landscape....
Spring 2009 Mid-Season Rants and Raves
I have to say I agree with her on many points! I haven't seen much that makes me say "gee, I have to add that to my spring wardrobe" either - through I do credit some of that to the paucity of my purse!
Right on too regarding the scarcity of light spring jackets - it's one of the few clothing items I actually need this spring(My old one has had it!), but there aren't many out there to choose from and, as yet, I haven't found one that I like enough to buy!

Okay...
You simply must go by and check this site out....
Iffyton High Street
Yes I know, printed t-shirts are a particularly difficult style once you go over 50 (even through I, personally love them - to me when done right, they are truly portable art!), you have to love how this website has been designed!

A very interesting idea....
This from Ms. Tamara over at Business Fashionable...
Marshalls + Shoppers + Social Networking..
I'm not a Marshall's shopper - the times I've gone in there I've never found anything worth buying. But I agree with Ms. Tamara - this is a brilliant idea!

Looks like Neiman Marcus....
Is going to show a little shopping love to their online shoppers as well....

Personally I think the in-store deal that Ms. Grechen over at Grechen's Closet clued us into yesterday is better.
But if you don't have a Neiman nearby, the online offer might just work for you!

Okay I confess....
I have a love of nifty shopping bags! Let's face it, some of them can serve as a small tote - I refer you to the great little handled bags you get from Starbucks.
Well I'm happy to learn that I'm not the only one...
Never Mind What’s in Them, Bags Are the Fashion
I've been coveting the bag Neiman-Marcus had for their 100th anniversary - too bad I can't afford anything in the damn place in order to get the shopping bag! :-<

Cafe Glam....
Kicks it out with several worthwhile posts!
Top 7 Summer Shoes and What to Wear with them
Bathing Suits to make you Look Sizzling in the Sun
It's not too late to hit the bleach in style -- and with your dignity intact! After all, there's still Labor Day!
Fashion over 40 -When to Skimp and When to Splurge?
I'll be reading this one closely, as I'm starting to think about Fall and what I can add to my wardrobe that will kick up my game without requiring bankruptcy later!
Looking Youthful with Universal Style
Personally, I'm not that in to the whole "let's try to look youthful" forever obsession. However, I do feel that everyone (women and men) benefit from keeping their look up to date! I also like the list of categories - rarely do you see this kind of break down that includes well known 40+ femes as style examples!
So kick it on over to the Cafe - and enjoy!

Where we shop...No suprise to me!
Hop over to Second City Style for their recap of a survey done by Scarborough Research on where women shopped in the last 3 months....
Where we shop....
Ms. Lauren expresses surprise at the results - but they make perfect sense to me. Most women, I would think, do not have all the bucks in the world for shopping - so they try for some kind of acceptable balance between fashion and finance. Time I would think is also a factor - if you're hitting Walmart for family essentials why not grab a pair of jeans to go as well, long as they fit?
Anyway, those are my morning thoughts on the subject! Check out the post and feel free to share your thoughts on either the Second City site or right here!

Okay Time for Some Fashion Fun!
If you're anything like me, you love shopping - even if you don't do any buying. That's one of the many things I love about the Internet - you can shop all day, even put the things you lust after in the shopping cart - and then not buy a thing! (Amazon, you rock!)
So it makes me just down right happy to have another place to dream shop....
ShopStyle
Not only it it a great looking site, it allows you to search for items from 40 retailers which, according to their faq, encompasses "major department stores, mall retailers/boutiques, and designer-focused websites like Bluefly and ShopBop." They also state they are adding more stores every week.
The site is broken down by Women, Men, Teens, Kids and Baby (which I thought was pretty interesting....you don't see too many shopping sites of this type that cover ALL age groups!) and, because they just plain need their own category, Shoes.
And, Hallelujah, they have both Plus and Petite size sections!
Navigation on this site is crazy easy and you can drill down by Brand, Store, Sale (WooHoo!), Price and Size.
And to make it just a bit sweeter, you can create an account and save your favs to your own stylebook. From there you can create looks from the items in your stylebook - so you can put those shoes that seemed so right with the dress you loved to see if they really are meant for each other!
And I love the fact that they also provide code for those of us who blog that will allow you to place a look on your blog! (You KNOW you'll be seeing some from me here! ; - ) )
All in all, definitely worth a visit!

A tip for buying clothes without trying them on...
Actually something you shouldn't do if you can avoid it!
But let's face it, we've all been there. You're on your lunch break, in the store, you see a great find that will fill one of those holes you always seem to have in your wardrobe. But drat! You don't have time to do the dressing room deal!
Hop on over to Real Simple for the following tip:
Buy Clothes Without Trying Them On
With my bad memory, I'm not sure the main tip is very helpful for me - but even I can remember the the inseam one, which can certainly come in handy!

Okay, can we hold off on the after Christmas sales....
Until AFTER Christmas?
As anyone who has moved can attest, for the longest time you continue to receive the previous occupants junk mail. Thus it is with me also. One of the previous occupants of my present space was a Bloomies customer. I myself am not, but I have been amused over the past few years to receive their Bloomies Christmas catalog. Since along with fashion I'm interested in design, I've enjoyed looking over their luxuriously designed Christmas cats.
Imagine my surprise this year when in the mailbox came, a week and a half BEFORE Christmas - the Bloomies After Christmas sale catalog! My sister made the amused observation that they must already know what they will have left for the sale!
Ah the after Christmas sales...when after overspending on others, we feel more than justified to overspend on ourselves! And if you are longing to somehow change your look, these sales can just be more temptation than you can bear!
Well take a breath - and then take yourself over to Wardrobe 911 for some timely tips on how to shop sales. Ms. Teresa has 3 little tips that may just help you help yourself purchase smart for you wardrobe on Dec 26th!
