A wonderful post...

From Tish over at A Femme un Certain Age on taking the time to look great...

Impeccable at any age

I know for myself, I don't make 1/2 the effort I should. Of late, I tend to go with what "works" - good enough for what I need to do today (work, errands, etc) but nothing to write home about. This post makes me think that I'm cheating myself by not putting out just a bit more effort!

youlookfab Ms. Angie is talking the changes at Ann Taylor...

A more fashion forward Ann Taylor

While I agree with Ms. Angie that AT has made some interesting updates to their usually dependable, but somewhat uninspired classic offerings, I do beg to differ on her comment that they offer a "wide assortment of sizes". Basically they offer regular sizes only up to an 18 (And I'll bet dollars to donuts that they don't even carry the size 18 in their stores!) and in petties only up to an 16P! NOT my idea of a wide range of sizes, which is probably why I don't feature the store here very often.

I tend to favor retailers that offer a truly wide range of size choices (Talbots, J Jill and Liz Claiborne New York, to name a few) because I find 50+ women run the gambit of sizes!

The wonderful...

Fashion Under $100.00 features two more outfits that can definitely work for the 50+ gal....

Cindy Crawford's Look for $91.30

Yes, your figure has to be somewhat trim, I think, to pull this one off. But I love the top - it stylishly addresses the whole upper arm thing, don't you think?

Michelle Obama's Look for $99.56

I love the easy elegance of this look and, once again, the upper arm issue is handled with ease in this outfit.

Of a Certain Age, Ms. Karen is doing what you should when you learn something - sharing the knowledge!

From Braless to Bodacious

This is a perfect example of how the right foundation garments can not only give the proper lift to the "girls" but help to straighten up your whole carriage! What to look years younger? Get a good bra!

Well done Ms. Karen! (And by the by, that music you've got goin' over there is the bomb! You had me bogeying in my chair as I read your post! ;-) )

Wardrobe 911, Ms. Teresa has the following post...

What to wear: PTA Meeting - Rectangle

While this is a tip for the lady with a rectangle figure, I think it's a classic casual look that can work for just about any over 50 femme!

Debbie gal....

I love ya...

Especially that torn T! Go on and work it girl! :-)

As anyone who reads here knows....

I'm an big fan of The Sartorialist, one of the best street style pics blog out there (and the first one I started following when I first started reading fashion blogs!).

But my one issue with the blog has been that there are usually precious few pics of fashionable "women of an age". Now I know that Scott does try to get those pics - but it was just getting depressing to go to his blog and see nothing but willow thin 20 and 30 somethings.

But I was missing his pics, so I went by yesterday. Looking through the pics I was rewarded for my stop by, by a few, wonderful pics of oh so stylish women of an age!

A couple of my favs...

On the Street..... Via Bagutta, Milano

Love the bag, the outfit - and those fierce heels that really show off her great gams!

On the Street.... Certain Elegance, Milan

Elegance pretty much sums this outfit up! I love this particular style - and she pulls it off flawlessly!

Spork Fashion...

Likes Amelia Toro's Spring/Summer 08 collection...And I do too!

LAFW Spring 2009: Amelia Toro

Yes some of it is that gauzy nonsense that probably would not work for the 50+ woman. But there are a lot of solid and interesting pieces that the 50+ lady can work with!

Matching your hair and your shoes?....

Interesting....

From YouLookFab....

Match footwear and hair colour to frame your look

I've been meaning...

To do a post on coats (with winter very much on the way...)...

If in the eyes designers....

Women past 30 are dead style wise...then I must be the animated dead!

From The Thoughtful Dresser...

Dead Past Thirty

This just made me smile...

From Ms. Elle of The Lucky Nest..

Fashion Maturity Milestones...

Now Ms. Elle isn't all that old, but lets face it, throughout a woman's life you hit these fashion/style milestones where you realize your style has changed for good (I still remember when I decided that the Limited just wasn't going to cut it anymore!)

When did you know you'd hit a fashion milestone?

Wardrobe 911 Ms. Teresa
gives a what to wear example for mom's on the go that I think would work great for the on the go 50+ gal as well...

What to Wear: Mom on the Go

I love the autumnal colors of this outfit - just perfect for fall! The only change I might make as a hot flashin' gal is to do a short sleeved sweater or the casual T-shirt Ms. Teresa mentions as an alternative! ;-)

YouLookFab Ms. Angie talks wardrobe second acts...

Wardrobe Orphans Get New Live

I'm sure you, like me, can attest to the truth of her reflections. More than once, some item in my closet that I brought, then hardly wore, made a comeback when I either brought something that went perfectly with it or discovered that it worked great with some other rarely worn piece!
