I have always....
Loved coats! Maybe it's because, as a Chicago gal born and raised, I have to have so many just to cover the never stable seasons in my beloved home town!
That being said, I loved the following post from garance dore....

For the record....
1. While I agree with one of her posts that there would be nothing wrong with shorting the coat, I'm glad she didn't. Long, it has a smooth, 60s, Jane Birkin kind of vibe.
2. I'm so jealous! I NEVER find great stuff like this in my mom's closet!

The line is Lia Lintern and the designer is Julia Lintern who is an ex-structural aerospace engineer. Looking a the precise design of this coat, I believe it! And the prices for what you are getting - excellent!

I've got my eye on...
Poetry
When you order clothes on line as often as I do, it's inevitable that you windup on all matter of mailing list for "like minded" sellers. That's how I ended up with the Poetry Fall 2008 catalog.
They're a British mail-order company with a style I'd say on par with J Jill. I have to say I was not bowled over by their pants or skirts - but I think their sweaters, coats and accessories are worth making note of...
(Come on now, what are the Brits without a bit of velvet and tapestry - they just can't help themselves! ;-) )
I simply LOVE this coat!
And with US sizes ranging from 4 - 22 I say Poetry is worth a look!
